Pink Topaz & Natural Pearl Gold Ring Certified Untreated, London, 1843 Size 10.5

About the Item

An unapologetically regal natural, untreated pink topaz gemstone is surrounded by a halo of natural uncultured saltwater pearls in this magnificently rare and beautiful unisex ring from the second half of the 19th century. Dating to 1843 and made in London, this 18K yellow gold ring features one of the rarest gemstones in the world: natural pink topaz. Not to be confused with 99% of the pink topaz you may have encountered, which —like blue topaz— owes its color to irradiation. This spectacular pink gem has had no treatment whatsoever. The gem is beautifully cut with tremendous fire. This 12w.5mm x 8.7mm weighs 4 carats and resides within numerous secure hand-carved prongs, surrounded by 18 small, fine natural saltwater pearls. Ornately hand-engraved shoulders lead around to the rear and a simple grooved band. The interior of the band features a full complement of English hallmarks. The ring appears to have never been sized and was, therefore, most likely created for a man, given it's large size of 10 ½. Your jeweler could resize this ring for you if need be, taking care to retain those fine English hallmarks. The ring ships with a certificate from Stone Group Labs stating that the topaz is untreated and from Brazil. Pink topaz is am exceedingly rare gemstone that can range in tone from orangy-pink to the rarest of all: the vivid pink you see here, that flashes purple at you. A fine and extraordinary treasure.

  • Jade Ring GIA Certified Untreated Purple Jadeite, Size 10 ½
    Located in Southbury, CT
This extraordinary ring was hand-carved from a single piece or natural and untreated GIA-Certified Burmese jadeite jade. The translucent stone is purple with a hint of light green. Click on the image of the GIA certificate and you will see that it does not describe the color as "lavender" but rather "purple." Making this ring all the more rare. The stone is luminous and absolutely gorgeous in all light; whether direct sunlight or the soft, low light of evening when the ring seems to glow from within. This is a large, substantial ring that was created for a size 10 ¼ - 10 ½ finger. Because the ring is thick, it's not possible to get a perfect reading on my ring mandrel, but if your finger is anywhere from a size 9 ½ (like mine) or a 10 ½, it should fit (though with a 9 ½ finger, the ring will have much more play). If your finger is smaller, your jeweler can create an insert liner from gold, silver or any metal you like and this will allow the ring to fit a much smaller finger -it just depends on how thick the liner is. This would be a project for you and your own local jeweler. In all my years of collecting jade, do you know how many untreated purple jade rings...
