Platinum Iolite and Diamond Cocktail Ring

About the Item

Iolite is named after the Greek word "ios," meaning violet. The rich purple-y to blue hues of iolite earned this gemstone the nickname of water sapphire. Only officially named in 1912, Iolite still was loved and valued by cultures throughout history. Iolite is sometimes referred to as the Viking's compass. Iolite is the gem variety of the mineral Cordierite. Gem quality iolite varies in colour, showing striking pleochroism from sapphire blue to blue violet to yellowish grey to light blue as the light angle changes. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or someone special to your heart , this exquisite rich purple-y to deep blue hues Iolite is a lovely gift to celebrate life’s special moments .
