Synthetic stones in jewelry
Around 1900, the well-known jewelers in Paris were surprised by the high quality of offered sapphires and rubies, they were all pure and had the most beautiful colors. At first it was thought that a new site had been discovered somewhere in the world. But after a while, people became suspicious. Then suddenly a certain Lord Verneuil stepped forward and stated that he had succeeded in making synthetic ruby and sapphire. Initially panic broke out among the jewelers, were all these gems suddenly worthless?
Fortunately, the new product was explored and it was discovered that there were methods to quickly distinguish a genuine one from a synthetic stone. This brought peace to the jewelers and the real stones still remained very precious.
In the 1930s it was difficult to find beautiful sapphires and synthetic stones were often used, so it is 100% original, only then the price played a role in the purchase of a jewel.
