About

Third Eye is a pendant created with one unique agata mounted on a 22kt gold support and a silver ring. This piece is a wearable sculpture created by world renowned German artist Rebecca Horn. This jewellery project came to life through collaboration between Rebecca Horn and Luisa del Valle, a noted goldsmith living in Spain. After months of research, del Valle sourced rare stones, shells and ammonites to develop the concept of movement and energy central to Horn’s work. This piece is unique, hand-made and exquisite crafted by del Valle through the ancient Etruscan technique. As a result of their collaboration, this jewel is a melange of antiquity and contemporaneity, timeless sculptural pieces in the form of a necklaces, which is deeply sensual. The spiral, which is present in all of Horn's jewellery, is one of the artist's most favoured symbols and appears throughout her work. Rebecca Horn (German, b. 1944) is a visual artist, who came to international prominence in the 1980s and is best known for her installation art, film directing, and body modifications projects. Horn is considered to be one of the most influential artists of the Kinetic Art movement. From an early age Horn developed a virtual obsession with drawing, using it as a medium of communication that she viewed as much less limiting than the spoken word. Horn’s work can be found today in many museum collections around the globe, including The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles and the Tate Gallery in London. She has also received prestigious awards throughout her career, which include the Carnegie Prize in 1988, the Kaiserring Goslar in 1992, in 2010 Praemium Imperiale in Sculpture, the Grande Medaille des Arts Plastiques in 2011, and in 2012 the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art. Elisabetta Cipriani – Jewellery by Contemporary Artists invites renowned international sculptors and painters to create exclusive wearable sculptures with the use of precious materials. Since 2009 this London-based gallery is exclusively collaborating with distinctive contemporary artists including Ilya & Emilia Kabakov, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Enrico Castellani, Erwin Wurm, Giorgio Vigna, Jannis Kounellis, Rebecca Horn and Tatsuo Miyajima, Pedro Cabrita Reis and Ai Weiwei.
