Exceptional Carved Emerald Ring by Sterlé at Second Petale Gallery.
A woman is depicted in bust form, holding a snake in both arms.
The emerald cameo is most likely ancient, perhaps 17th century, and probably depicts a goddess.
Signature: Sterlé Paris. Marks: French assay mark for gold. One-of-a-kind.

ABOUT the CREATOR
Pierre Sterlé (1905-1978) was an illustrious French jeweler who also designed for such jewelry houses as Chaumet and Boucheron. Easily recognizable, Pierre Sterlé's style is characterized by its inspirational themes, artistic treatment and technical mastery. His themes display a baroque asymmetry and extravagance. Sterlé was known for his mastery of metal manipulation, and the technique used on the metal suggests dripping, freezing or engraving, resulting in braided, twisted and flexible strings of gold.
