Victorian Five Stone Sapphire Diamond Gold Ring
About the Item
A Victorian five stone carved half hoop sapphire and diamond ring, set alternately with five graduated diamonds and sapphires, three old brilliant-cut diamonds estimated to weigh a total of 1.5 carats and two cushion shape faceted sapphires weighing a total of 1.67 carats with eight rose-cut diamonds inbetween, all claw set to a gold mount with a 2.4mm wide D-section shank and tapering shoulders, circa 1880, head measuring 0.7x2.3cm, gross weight 5.2 grams.
This Victorian ring is in very good condition. Unmarked, tested as 18ct gold.
A bright and colourful late Victorian ring. This piece comes from the collection of Bentley & Skinner, the London jewellers by appointment to both Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and features five stones: two sapphires and three diamonds. The sapphires are a deep royal blue colour, and the diamonds are marvellously lively and scintillating. The main stones are set with smaller rose-cut diamonds between them, adding further sparkle to this lovely ring. The stones are set in an ornate, typically Victorian scroll mount. This gorgeous ring would make an ideal antique engagement ring
