Victorian French Natural Ruby, Diamond, and Blue Enamel Ring

About the Item

An exquisite and unique ruby and diamond ring from the Victorian (ca1880) era! French in origin, this gorgeous piece is crafted in vibrant 18kt yellow gold and features sterling silver accents. The raised, oval-shaped centerpiece displays a natural, no heat Burmese ruby, weighing approximately 0.80ct at the center of a sparkling diamond border. The rich, raspberry red stone is held in a milgrained yellow gold bezel, which is encircled by 12 old Mine Cut diamonds weighing approximately 0.50ctw combined. Each sparkling stone is set in sterling silver, creating an elegant scalloped edge and fantastic mixed metals appeal that reflects the light beautifully with every turn. The stunning ruby and diamond cluster rests atop a bed of royal blue enameling that highlights the incredibly vibrant color. A soft milgrained bezel surrounds the enamel work, and a feminine etched design embellishes the gallery, found below the mounting. A lovely floral motif decorates the split shank shoulders, which trail into a smoothly polished band that graduates towards the back. Stamped along the outside of the shank is the French touchmark of an eagle head, indicating its gold purity. The incredible color palette makes a fabulous statement piece and the piece merges seamlessly into modern day fashion. This gorgeous Victorian ring would look stunning worn on special occasions, and would be a fantastic addition to any collection! The ring has a finger size 6, but could easily be resized. The centerpiece measures 1/2" wide and slightly more than 1/2" tall, and rests approximately 1/4" above the finger when worn. The graduated band measures 1.5mm wide at the back. The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the yellow gold and sterling silver setting. The ruby and diamonds are all intact and securely set. The enamel was recently restored to its original beauty, and is free of any apparent chips or scratches.
