About the Item

This white gold ring dating to the 1960s presents a real treasure: a natural, dark blue sapphire of approx. 16,00 ct is the focal point of its design. Its colour is a dark blue that changes with the movements of light and its wearer, beautifully transparent and with only a few inclusions that serve to prove its natural origin. Sapphires above 10,00 ct weight are truly lucky finds and guarantee a stable value. To further prove the natural origin of the sapphire at hand, we had an independent certificate made by the German Gemological Society in Idar-Oberstein, the town famous for its mines, gemstone museums and general gemological expertise. The certificate is included in this offer. The precious gemstone is presented as an oval-shaped cabochon, held by a light setting of white gold. Diamonds subtly flank the shoulders of the ring. The blue and white colour combination, reminiscent of stars in the night sky, is very typical of this era: in the space age, many pieces of jewellery were inspired by celestial bodies, imitating even the wiry, white metal structures of satellites. In 1967, a brooch aptly named „Kosmos“ won the prize for jewel of the year. The ring, both modern and timeless in its sleek design, is in beautiful condition and ready to be worn by someone with a taste for superb coloured gemstones.
