Sapphire Diamond Bombe Ring, circa 1960
About the Item
This fabulous cocktail ring is set with 50 sapphires of Thai origin weighing an approximate total of 17 carats, interspersed with 31 single-cut and brilliant cut diamonds with a total approximate weight of 0.40 carats.
The ring is set in a bold ‘boule’ design, with the stones mounted close together in unmarked 18 carat white gold (tested) setting. The sapphires have a slight variation in colour from a cornflower blue through to a deeper, more intense tone. The continuous blue of the sapphires is punctuated with flashes of light from diamonds set between the stones.
The underside of the ring has an elegant pierced design leading to a slim shank, and is currently sized to US 6.5 (M.5) but may be resized with ease. We believe it was made in America around the 1960s.
This is a fun ring on a dramatic scale which would look as good with jeans as it would with an elegant cocktail dress.
