About the Item
The snake ring as a symbol fo eternity was a popular piece of jewellery. Jewellery with sentimental messages was intensely popular in a period where sentiments had often to be transmitted in secret way. The design of snake rings underwent many changes. a variety os snake rings are known from the earliest 1900s to the Art Nouveau period. The snake ring we see here was hand crafted towards the end of the 19th century, it already shows the serene organic line of the Art Nouveau language. The head of the friendly snake is adorned with an oval moonstone cabochon and two facetted rubies as eyes..
