This Georgian era, 18k gold ring (circa 1748) serves as a poignant reminder of a life cut short.
The ring features a hand painted skull under a faceted rock crystal with a white enamel band adorned with old English text that reads 'Thos. Griffeth 25 Oct 1748 at 23'.
The ring is a size 6.5 and cannot be resized. It is in good condition with light surface wear; however, the skull is not well defined and only noticeable under magnification.
The metal content of this ring was verified with XRF (x-ray analysis) and jeweler's acids.
