22 Karat Gold Key Ring
About the Item
22K Yellow Gold Key Ring by ROMAE Jewelry - Inspired by an Ancient Roman Design. Our solid gold "Securitas" ring is based on an ancient Roman ring that was actually a key! The Romans locked their chests, cabinets, and doors with locks that were opened with keys, very much as we do, today. Roman keys were unique, however, in that they were often attached to rings, and thus could be worn on a finger, or on a necklace or chain around the neck. Each Roman lock was different, so every key had a different design. Many ancient Roman bronze locks and keys have been found! The majority date to between the first and third centuries AD, and our ring is based on one that we found particularly striking. It is available for men and women, in U.S. sizes 4 - 14. Each piece of ROMAE jewelry is inspired by an ancient example, and is carefully designed and lovingly crafted in Rome by archaeologist and museum specialist Cris and artist Elena. Our pieces are made to order, and each is individually cast, hand finished and personalized, which allows for freedom of stone choice and special tailoring such as inscriptions and engravings. When shipped, each piece of ROMAE jewelry arrives with a product card that provides information about the culture, date, and find spot of the original piece of jewelry that inspired our design.
