Antique Georgian Zeus Bloodstone Intaglio 14K Rose Gold Signet Ring
About the Item
Fine Georgian period early 19th century bloodstone and 14K Rose gold intaglio signet ring depicting Zeus with bolts of lightning. The oval shaped bloodstone with rich natural red inclusions is cabochon shaped rather than flat, as are most intaglio rings, giving the gem added depth. Zeus is depicted in profile with bolts of lightning which were gifted to him by the Cyclopes Brontes, Steropes and Arges as a reward for releasing them from Tartarus. He is the most powerful figure in Greek mythology- the god of kings, fate, lightning and thunder.
