About the Item
A magical, classic faceted red spinel and 18-karat yellow gold chevalier ring. This antique cushion cut 5.32 ct spinel is of Burmese/Myanmar origin and has not been heated. It has intense saturation and deep red color. The gold ring is signed with French hallmarks. Size 6.75. A strong and elegant ring in a classic signet style centered on a fine deep, prong set red spinel stone. The ring's certification also notes that the spinel has not been heated. It is likely from Myanmar's Mogok Stone Tract.
The ring sits comfortably on the finer and works well for all genders.
Historically, red spinels have had a history once complicated by their likeness to rubies. In the modern period, spinels though have achieved their well-deserved autonomous identity. With a hardness of eight on Mohs’ Scale, spinels are very durable and can be polished to a high luster. They have better transparency than rubies and are singly refractive like diamonds. -Lotus
