Victoria Strigini: Ancient Roman Agate Intaglio in 18k Gold Oeuf au Plat Ring
About the Item
Victoria Strigini (b. 1991)
An elegant contemporary 18k yellow gold ring, featuring a 2nd- 3rd century AD Roman intaglio in agate, set in the designer's signature Oeuf au Plat mount: a strikingly pure, egg-shaped frame with a thick, squared bezel. A jaunty winged Eros (Cupid) riding a dolphin is incised into the intaglio, the agate’s natural layers of color accentuating the carving.
Each Victoria Strigini piece is unique and handcrafted in the designer's Mayfair, London workshop. Custom-made pieces are available upon request.
Approximate Measurements: H10.5mm above finger, W4.5mm at top, W2.75mm at bottom, 2-2.5mm thick band.
Ring Size: US 6 ½ / UK M. Can be re-sized. Please contact us for custom designs.
Victoria Strigini is a French-born, London-based jewelry designer. Her work reimagines Greek and Roman antiquities for the present, setting rare intaglios, cameos, coins, and stones in bold, minimalist mounts with pure and subtle lines. Her jewelry presents striking contrasts while highlighting the timelessness of century-old objects. “Beyond their beauty, classical gemstones have survived for more than 2,000 years; that's magical,” Strigini says. “Imagining all of the hands they've passed through and then wearing one of these treasures brings you into its history. It’s a never-ending story that we get to inhabit.”
Responsibly fashioned from recycled gemstones and gold by highly skilled London-based artisans, Strigini's jewelry harnesses centennial traditions of craftsmanship in service of a strong modern vision, to create responsibly and wear with strength and ease.
The daughter of a painter and the granddaughter of a seamstress, Strigini was raised in a tradition of deep female creativity, learning early on the importance of materials, quality, and ingenuity. After studying art history, she received diplomas in Jewelry Design, CAD, and Diamond Grading from the Gemological Institute of America in New York, before returning to London and founding her eponymous line in 2019. Her work has been featured in Vogue, Madame Figaro, Coveteur, and the Financial Times.

- Castellani Ancient Roman Agate Intaglio Gold RingBy CastellaniLocated in New York, NYCastellani® has selected this Ancient Roman Agate Intaglio for the "Cleopatra" Ring Setting. The intaglio dates to the 3rd to 7th Century. The intaglio is both black and white agate, which is a hard stone and very good for carving. The agate has two layers of color, black on the top and white at the bottom. The agate intaglio is solid and is one piece. The carver was able to use these two color layers to give dimension and detail. The Column and Angel on the left wings are white and the balance is all black. The Carver knew the material he/she was carving and used this to create this very unique scene. The intaglio shows two angels standing on either side of a column/pillar looking at the bust of a man on top of the pillar. The angels are female and male. The bust on the pedestal is of a male. The intaglio is set below the frame. The frame flairs out to a subtle point on the sides and has a flat surface. The "Cleopatra" ring design was a style that Castellani created in the 1860's and was inspired by Ancient Roman rings...Category
