About the Item

Byzantine gold ring with cross. A yellow gold ring, with a circular openwork plaque to centre with a cross motif enhanced with gold granules, flanked to the shoulders with zoomorphic terminals, finely engraved with stylised scales, and leading smoothly through to a solid D-shape shank. Tested yellow gold, approximately 8.13 grams in weight, circa 5th-7th century AD.
