Antique Russian Set of 12 Champlevé Enamel Demitasse Spoons by Sazikov

A rare set of twelve Russian silver and champlevé enamel demitasse spoons by Imperial court jeweler Sazikov in their original case, Moscow, 1878. In the Russian Revival style, the backs of the bowls enameled with a brightly colored and stylized cockerel in transparent red together with opaque lapis, white, and green enamel, all reserved against a black enamel ground within a turquoise and white border, the twist handle with mitre finial, struck with 91 standard, suggesting they were made for export, perhaps to one of the international expositions at which the firm’s works were awarded many awards. Contained in original silk- and velvet-lined, fitted oak case of the firm. Length of spoon: 4 7/16 in. (11.3 cm).
