Originally intended for wrapped sweets, this beautiful dish could be used for nuts or snacks, for potpourri or simply as a decorative item in its own right. Hallmarked: Made by James Dixon & Sons Ltd in Cornish Place, Sheffield in 1917. James Dixon founded his company with partner Thomas Smith around 1806. In the 1820s, Smith withdrew and was replaced by James Dixon's eldest son, followed by his other sons and the James Dixon & Sons name was established.
