Paul Amey 18k Gold and Diamond "Marquis" Fork Hand Crafted by Artisan
About the Item
The “Marquis” fork was designed and hand crafted by multi award-winning jeweller Paul Amey in Australia. The Fork is stamped with his registered makers mark and precious metal marks, with over 122 hours of labour and was completed in November 2016. All components are masterfully handcrafted by Paul Amey with no casting or 3D imaging used. Diamond and stone settings were all carried out by Paul Amey.
The “Marquis” fork was a finalist in the JDA Jewellery Design Awards in the category of “Precious Metal” in July 2017.
The “Marquis” fork handle is made from 18K yellow gold and platinum (29.4 grams), is 14.2cm in length (handle only) and embellished throughout the length of the handle with a large number of scattered diamonds. With Canadian stainless steel tines the fork has an overall length of 21.5cms.
The “Marquis” fork showcases the following diamonds
9 x colour enhanced green natural round brilliant diamonds equalling 45pts, 3 x 5pt, 3 x 3pt, 3 x 2pt, 7 x 1pt round brilliant white diamonds equalling 37pts that are all chenier set in platinum. Also featured are 3 x 3pt, 2 x 2pt, 21 x 1pt equalling 34pts that are all grain set in platinum. Additional principal diamonds are 2 x 20pt EF SI2 round brilliant, 1 x 26pt pear shape F VS, 1 x 23pt marquis F VS, 1 x 12pt marquis F VS and 2 x 14pt round E/F SI2 brilliant. All the white diamonds are platinum set either in chenier or claws and the coloured diamonds are chenier set in yellow gold.
The “Marquis” fork handle has 2 diamond set collars with vine and gum leaf motifs on the forward portion. The aft portion has meandering deco style vine work with matching background texture and a central twist supports the 3 principal fancy cut diamonds.
The “Marquis” fork is housed in a custom-made cherry wood display box which has a sterling silver handcrafted gilt "E"

Paul Amey Jeweller
PAUL AMEY is an ARTIST, DESIGNER, MASTER GOLDSMITH and a fellow of the Gold & Silversmiths Guild of Australia. Paul Amey was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia with one grandfather a watchmaker, the other a jeweller. Jewellery was obviously in his blood! Paul has been a designer and manufacturing jeweller for over 50 years and is well renowned for his work in creating and producing beautiful high-quality jewellery with a dramatic flair completely by hand. Paul is still passionate about designing and producing special pieces. “I have fun with jewellery and so should customers - I give people choices they don’t get from other jewellers.” Paul has seen a great number of design changes and influences come and go, but he says “the fundamentals have always remained the same skilful design, excellent craftsmanship and an attention to detail.” Like the masters of old, using time-honoured techniques, he is creating modern masterpieces. “Each custom piece is crafted completely by hand, no computers, no mass production. My pieces are absolute original works of art, whether they be made from silver, gold or platinum.” Paul has a strong desire and flair for dramatic pieces, an early example being the making of the perpetual Western Australian Gold Swan Award. Also in recognition of his hand craftsmanship was the acceptance of his work by Sotheby's under its Art Category and recently being the recipient of two Precious Metal Awards.
