Antique David Andersen Gilt Sterling Silver & Plique-à-jour Enamel Spoon

About the Item

A fine antique plique a jour spoon. By David Andersen. In gold-washed sterling silver. With a plique-a-jour bowl, twist wire handle, and finial. Having a lovely red, blue, green, yellow and purple enamel, and recurring motifs of a 5-pointed leaf and a 6-petal daisy-like flower. Marked to the reverse for 925 and with a David Andersen maker's mark. Simply a wonderful spoon! Date: Late 19th or Early 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. There are a few small spots of loss, a few expected fissures in the enamel cells, some rubbing to the gold, some light edge wear, some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Marks: Marked to the reverse where the bowl and handle meet with 925S / David Andersen maker's mark. Measurements: Length: ca. 5 3/4 in. Width: ca. 3/4 in. Depth: ca. 5/8 in.
