About the Item

A hunter pocket watch made by Rich Evans Shrewsbury and Robert Causer. The cases were made in 1856, in solid .925/.999 sterling silver with high polished finish. The movement is earlier, just made by Evans Shrewsbury probably at the end of the 18th century, circa 1763-1790. Made up in sterling silver with a detailed standing eagle facing to the left. Inner case: Round, diameter of 49.5 mm. Birmingham hallmarks for 1856 and maker’s mark RC. Also stamped with the movement serial number 783. Excellent condition throughout. The high dome crystal is perfect. The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut nicely. Outer case: Round, diameter of 58 mm. Matching hallmarks to the inner. Again in very good condition. The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. This outer case contains 3 watch papers from the movement maker (Evans & Brown), dated 1867, 1869 and 1900, each one with the owner’s name and address on the back.
