About the Item

FACTORY / HOUSE: J. W. Benson STYLE / REFERENCE: Victorian Ladies Bracelet Watch METAL / MATERIAL: 18Kt Solid Gold CIRCA / YEAR: 1880's DIMENSIONS / SIZE: Diameter 24mm MOVEMENT / CALIBER: Manual Winding / Cylindrical Escapement DIAL / HANDS: Kiln Fired Enamel with Solid Gold Hands ATTACHMENT / LENGTH: Unique Articulated Bracelet WARRANTY: 18 months on the movement LIFETIME SERVICE COMMITMENT This is one of the most unique wrist watches I have ever seen. The workmanship is exceptional and it should be since it was produced by the legendary house of Benson's. One of Europe's most famous houses. The J.W. Benson watch company was founded in 1847 by brothers James William Benson and Samuel Benson. They began by selling watches and jewelry from a small shop in London, but quickly expanded their business and became one of the most respected watchmakers in England. Benson watches were known for their high quality and precision, and were often used by the British military and government. The company also held a number of royal warrants, and Benson watches were worn by Queen Victoria and other members of the British royal family. In addition to manufacturing its own watches, Benson also imported and retailed watches from other countries. The company was particularly well-known for its selection of Swiss watches, and Benson was one of the first companies to introduce Swiss watches to the British market. Benson watches were also known for their innovative designs. In 1885, Benson introduced the first waterproof wristwatch, and the company also produced a number of other groundbreaking watches, such as the first watch with a luminous dial and the first watch with a stopwatch. Benson continued to produce high-quality watches until World War II, when its factory was bombed. After the war, Benson resumed production, but the company never fully recovered from the war damage. In 1973, Benson was sold to the Royal Jewellers, Garrards, and the brand name was eventually acquired by Mappin and Webb in the 1990s. Today, J.W. Benson watches are highly sought-after by collectors. They are known for their high quality, precision, and innovative designs. Benson watches are a reminder of the golden age of British watchmaking, and they continue to be appreciated by enthusiasts around the world. The bracelet on this watch is fully extendable and will basically fit any wrist, man or woman's. It is not and every day watch though, but it does keep adequate time. It is "pin set" which means you must push in the pin at 2:00 to set the time. If you are looking for a one of a kind item for a gift or for yourself this is certainly a watch to own and wear, on some rare occasions though.

FACTORY / HOUSE: Longines Watch Company STYLE / REFERENCE: Trench Style / Military METAL / MATERIAL: Sterling Silver CIRCA / YEAR: 1925 DIMENSIONS / SIZE: Length 49mm X Diameter 36mm MOVEMENT / CALIBER: Manual Winding / 15 Jewels / Caliber DIAL / HANDS: Kiln Fired Enamel with Breguet Style Arabic Numerals / Blued Steel Breguet Style Hands ATTACHMENT / LENGTH: Leather, 18mm / Regular Length WARRANTY: 18 months on the movement LIFETIME SERVICE COMMITMENT This is one of the finest example of a "trench" watch we have ever had. The watch is entirely hand made. The case cover is done in classic Breguet Engine Turning, with a "Half Hunter" cover and Kiln Fired Blue Enamel with Roman Numerals. The Roman Numerals are balanced out against the Breguet Arabic Numeral Dial. The movement is hand made by Longines and very high grade. We have just serviced this fine watch and it keeps dependable time and can be worn all the time and counted on to get you there on time as well. Longines was founded in 1832 by Auguste Agassiz, a Swiss watchmaker. He was also the brother of renowned biologist Louis Agassiz. Agassiz started the company with two partners, lawyers Henri Raiguel and Florian Morel. The company's original name was Raiguel Jeune & Cie. In 1846, Raigeul and Morel retired from the watch industry, leaving Agassiz as sole company head. Several years later, Agassiz brought in his bright, enterprising nephew, trained economist Ernest Francillon, into the business. Francillon was the mastermind behind several impressive innovations that would distinguish the company from its competitors. In 1880, Francillon trademarked the Longines name and its winged hourglass logo. The winged hourglass is a symbol of precision and timekeeping, and it has become one of the most recognizable logos in the watch industry. In 1912, Longines became the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games. The company has held this position ever since, and it has been involved in every Olympic Games since then. Longines has also been the official timekeeper of many other major sporting events, including the World Championships in Athletics, the Formula One World Championship, and the America's Cup. In 1931, Longines invented the Lindbergh Hour Angle...
