LIFETIME SERVICE COMMITMENT
This rare chronograph was produced in Switzerland for Waltham, an American company sometime in the 1960's. By this time America was no longer manufacturing watches for domestic use. The Swiss had taken over watch production. This watch, slightly oversized for the day is done in bronze and chromium plated. The finish shows a nice even patina on it and is rather striking. It keeps excellent time and all the functions work correctly as well.
By the way, the tonneau shaped watch was first created by Louis Cartier in France around 1914. He saw barrels on the docks in Marseille and realized it would be a perfect shape for a watch. Hence, the name tonneau, French for barrel.
