Edition of 5 plus 2 artist's proofs (#2/5) This photograph belongs to Jun Ahn's series 'Invisible Scape', which was shot between 2010 and 2014. South Korean Jun Ahn came to study in the US, where she graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in art history in 2006, followed by two years of postgraduate study of photography at the Pratt Institute. While at the Pratt, she had her first work displayed as part of group gallery exhibitions, and began work on the "Self-Portrait" project, which to date is her most prominent series of photographs which she regards as “a performance without an audience”, an end of youth of sorts, and a coming to terms with the future. In 2009 and 2010 she was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship at New York’s Parsons The New School for Design, and in 2011 received both the Dean's and a departmental scholarship. During this time her work received its first major exhibitions, including a joint exhibition with Kazuna Taguchi at PS 122 in New York. Furthermore, Jun Ahn has been selected as one of BJP’s 20 Photographers To Watch in 2013. Homer Sykes Sykes's father, Homer Warwick Sykes, was a Canadian-born American of English extraction who worked for the China National Aviation Corporation in Shanghai; his mother, Helen Grimmitt, was Canadian-born and raised in Hong Kong. The couple were married in August 1947, but in June 1948, in an early stage of his wife's pregnancy, Homer was killed in an accident at Lunghua airfield. Helen returned to her family home in Vancouver, and the son was born three weeks later, in 1949.[1][2] When the boy's mother remarried in 1954, the family moved to England.[3] Homer was a keen photographer as a teenager, with a darkroom both at home and at boarding school. Turquoise is a calming colour and this piece will bring you inner peace and a sense of tranquility. Pixie Willoughby artist with Wychwood Art. Born in Lincolnshire in 1972, Pixie qualified from Lancaster University in 1994, with BA hons QTS in English Literature and Theatre Studies. For the next 26 years, she taught primary aged children in schools located in the UK, Portugal and Thailand. Whilst teaching in Thailand, Pixie developed her love and interest in art. In 2012, she was commissioned to paint 99 paintings for the bedrooms of a hotel in Pattaya, Thailand. Following this success, Pixie retired from teaching and returned to the UK to focus full time on her art. When Pixie is not painting, she is training for triathlons. Having completed an Ironman in 2018, this has fuelled her belief that anything is possible. "I believe art is creation. It's in the rustling trees, it's in the air we breathe, it's in the songs we sing, it's in everything. I am proud of my art as it has a voice. It speaks to me, it speaks for me. It reveals my heart and my soul. I hope my art speaks to others too. That it comforts and confronts, that it challenges and questions, that it demands all and nothing.
