After Dusk: Landscape Oil Painting of Wintertime, White Snow in a Country Field
By John Kelly
Located in Hudson, NY
Hudson Valley landscape painting of a snow capped country field in the wintertime Oil on linen, 14 x 17 inches, 16 x 19 inches in black painted, artist made frame John Kelly approaches the Hudson Valley landscape with the eye of an architect and the hand of an impressionist. With intense attention paid to form and light, Kelly nevertheless manages to abstract the landscape just slightly, breaking earth, sky, and atmosphere down to their most elemental qualities. In this painting, a stark, snowy expanse extends towards a distant treeline. Composed in a largely monochromatic palette of white, pale gray, slate, and touches shadowy blue violet, this sparse landscape emanates an air of serenity. About the artist: Hudson Valley based painter John Kelly received his education from the Art Institute of Boston and Buffalo State. He has been exhibiting around the northeastern United States since the 1970s. Winter Lounges (Small Landscape Painting of Hudson Valley Snowy Winter Scene)
By John Kelly
Located in Hudson, NY
Hudson Valley landscape painting of a snowy country field in wintertime Oil on linen, 16 x 17.5 inches in black painted, artist made frame En plein air painter John Kelly approaches the Hudson Valley landscape with the eye of an architect and the hand of an impressionist. With intense attention paid to form and light, Kelly nevertheless manages to abstract the landscape just slightly, breaking earth, sky, and atmosphere down to their most elemental qualities. In this painting, two lounge chairs sit side-by-side, heavily blanketed in snow. Kelly renders the snow in shades of cool blue and violet, touched with pure, bright white. Behind the chairs, a murky line of shrubs, limbs bare, mingles with a few lonely pines and far-off blue hills. About the artist: Hudson Valley based painter John Kelly received his education from the Art Institute of Boston and Buffalo State. He has been exhibiting around the northeastern United States since the 1970s. Located in Hudson, NY
Price for UNFRAMED item The Robin Rice Gallery proudly announces SUMMERTIME Salon 2018, an annual photography exhibit featuring gallery artists as well as a few newcomers. This year’s opening reception will be held on Wednesday, June 27th from 6 – 8 PM, and the show will be on view until September 23rd, 2018 Rice has brought together the works of 55 gallery artists and nearly a hundred photographs for this salon-style exhibition. From floor to ceiling, the walls of the gallery are a mosaic of various size photographs in sepia, color and black & white, expertly hung to fit together like pieces of a puzzle. “This is my favorite exhibition even though it takes months to curate and a week to install,” says Rice. “I love the moment when a viewer is first drawn to an image. Sometimes in’s indefinable; a moment when the viewer not only shares but reconnects to an experience remembered.” Each year, the Summertime Salon matures and Rice’s annual masterpiece is revealed to showcase an exhibition stronger than the year before. Rice has a close relationship with the works of her photographers, and strategically curates the show to best exemplify the artists’ strengths, remaining cohesively linked by Rice’s aesthetic. This year’s invitational image, Hoop and Ball by Nenad Samuilo Amodaj is from a series of one hundred photographs. Rice chose three photographs from Amodaj’s series to create a triptych on the back wall of her gallery for this exhibition. The invitational image is of a standing semi-nude woman in profile wearing a hoop skirt. Her entire head rests inside of a large white plaster ball that she holds above her. He explained: “I wanted to explore the abstract architectural properties of the hoop skirt, a clothing item with curious geometric form that appears both in nature and in the world of artifice.” Before photographing the model he created numerous figure drawings that helped solidify his vision for the series. color, photography, water, beach, ocean, sea, sunset, golden, wave, surf, Hamptons, East Hampton, Georgica Beach...

Winter Lambs (Framed Black and White Photograph of White Lambs in a Landscape)
By Jerry Freedner
Located in Hudson, NY
Contemporary black and white landscape photograph of white lambs sleeping under a snow capped tree "Winter Lambs", by Jerry Freedner, 2014 12 x 12 inch inkjet print, 16 x 16 inches in black frame with black mat and non-glare glass This modern black and white, still life photograph of white baby lambs peacefully sleeping under a tree was created by Hudson Valley photographer, Jerry Freedner. The resting lambs' white wool coats compliment the frost covered evergreen branches making for a cohesive intimate winter landscape. Artist Statement: Jerry Freedner In the sixties I studied photography at the New School in NYC, and then with Lisette Model. I've enjoyed many workshops and, through the pre-digital age, thousands of hours in my darkroom. As it was then and as it is now, I have an enduring affinity with nature in all of its forms. Within the last ten years my concerns have shifted to the intense fragility of this earth we share. My work is apolitical yet I hope that it might serve as a vehicle to stir a sense stewardship: to conserve the wonder and beauty about us, which is now fraught with unhappy change and threatened loss. Tree Farm, East Hampton, NY
By Robin Rice
Located in Hudson, NY
Robin Rice is a successful gallerist and photographer having spent the past 40 years living and working in New York City and Bridgehampton. While still the owner of the Robin Rice Gallery in New York City, where she continues to represent and nurture artists from around the world, she has taken the bold step of moving to the Lofts in Beacon, NY to focus on her own work as a fine art photographer. Robin is carefully unearthing and curating her extensive personal collection dating back to when she was 16 years old. Her mission is simple: to document the world around her in a cinematic way. Whether capturing the grit of New York in its glory days of Studio 54 or the innate beauty of tucked-away South American landscapes or the reflective moments of unknowing subjects, her photographs are always authentic. As a photographer, she has a dreamy and bohemian way of portraying people and situations that is reflective of the way she lives her life situations connecting to people through art, food, travel and dance. Her meticulous eye, attention to detail and innate instinct for visual excellence are only some of the traits that make Robin’s photography exceptional in every way. This photograph shows Robin's love for classic black and white American photography. As she captures a woman biking through a Hampton's tree farm...

Shirokuro XXVII (Black and White Abstract Photo of Lilypads on Water)
By Lependorf and Shire
Located in Hudson, NY
limited edition archival pigment print, edition of 10 26 x 39 inches unframed About the work: This image of highly contrasted water lilies floating on a still water's surface is one is a series completed by the artist duo in 2008 called "Shirokuro", meaning Light and Dark. "The foundation for our work is the photographic image with the optimal quality of light. Selecting the interplay of composition, form, rhythm, and line is the focus for our imagery. Integrating these elements in the computer is the next stage in the process of merging our visual and intuitive sensibilities toward a completed vision. Different perceptual effects arise from recording the world in photographs as opposed to interpreting it in paint: Our goal is not to emulate painting. Conceptual work in all mediums has blurred the line between photographers who make art and artists who use photography." The digital medium has established itself in the natural continuum of art history and the ongoing relationship of art with technology. This work forces us to consider a more serene world while reminding us that no contemporary experience is unmediated; technology touches everything. The use of the computer as a tool does not create; it assists creativity resulting in a synthesis of disciplines to be realized as a limited edition. The combination of archival pigment inks on Crane Fine Art paper framed with archival mattes and backboards insures permanence in excess of 175 years. The creative process will always remain in the mind and the soul of the artist. About the artists: Stan Shire is Professor Emeritus and former chair...

Hudson River 10C x 210 (Black/White Abstract Grid Photograph of Bicyles)
By Elliott Kaufman
Located in Hudson, NY
Framed Archival Chromogenic Digital print image size: 20 x 35 inches paper size: 30 x 40 inches This print is available unframed with a 5 inch white border. Additional sizes available upon request. Elliott Kaufman describes New York City as “a laboratory in constant movement. In his series “Street Dance,” Kaufman photographs repetitive actions of passersby – such as riding a bicycle or entering a subway station – from a single vantage point and arranges the images in a grid. Key to his series, Kaufman explains, was caluculating how changing light would affect the environment. “The bicycles had to be backlit at the very end of the day,” he says. “The subway sterps were calculated so that the light would cast perfect north/south shadwos.” He also shot a varying number of exposures at each scene to relay the “staccato rhythm” he sought – as many as 225. “The camera catches the commonality of movement,” he says, “until what endures is a patter of dance and motion.” A number of artists have led him in this direction, including the Bauhaus and the collaborative media which they pioneered, the 1977 film Powers Of Ten, which depicts the relative scale of the universe in factors of ten, Mike Figgis...
