Pair of Art Deco Cream Ceramic Vases W/ Stylized Cloud Motif & Craqueleur Finish
Located in New York, NY
This elegant pair of Art Deco ceramic vases were realized in Belgium circa 1930. They feature rectangular volumetric bodies with square bases that cantilever beyond the perimeter of each form. The silhouettes vases are composed of columnar forms separated by channel detailing. The surfaces- executed in a rich cream hue- display a wonderfully even cracqueleur finish and stylized cloud motifs represented by swirling curvilinear amorphic forms. With their economy of form and modernist sensibility, these vases are as versatile as they are aesthetically compelling, blending with any style of interior from classic Art Deco to contemporary. While they are perfectly functional vases...

Art Deco Opalescent White Glass Vase by André Hunebelle
By Andre Hunebelle
Located in Miami, FL
Art Deco mold-blown Opalescent glass vase by the firm of Hunebelle; round in shape and with a pattern of horizontal lines and angular indentations running all around the piece. Made in France. Signature: "A. Hunebelle" and "France" in the mold on bottom. Andre Hunebelle was born in Paris in 1896. He studied Mathematics at the Ecole Polytechnique in Paris, but these studies were interrupted by his involvement in the First World War. After the war, Hunebelle began designing pressed glass inspired by the work of Rene Lalique. He was friendly with Lalique's son . A Unique Style In 1927 Hunebelle exhibited his first collection of glass, which rapidly became fashionable and brought him popular acclaim. Although similar to Lalique's glass in many respects, Hunebelle's work maintained a unique identity and style. He was influenced greatly by his love of Mathematics and the prevailing fashion for what we now call Art Deco. The decoration of his designs was often very stylised or abstract and frequently used contrasting planes of glossy and frosted glass Andre Hunebelle created a range of vases, bowls, plates, ornaments and lamps and opened a luxury shop in Paris. (the address of which is variously quoted as being at the rue de la Boetie, Avenue Victor Emmanuel-III and the Champs Elysees) Etienne Franckhauser who also made moulds for Lalique and Sabino made the moulds for Hunebelle's glass. Much of his work, particularly in the earlier years, was in colourless glass, although he increasingly used coloured glass for his designs and is well known for his opalescent glass. He invented a style of port decanter...

Shagreen Vase with Brass and Quilted Details by Kifu Paris
By Kifu Augousti
Located in New York, NY
The Coco vase is an elegant piece with its exquisite quilted detailing. This listing is for the medium size inlaid in coal black shagreen with brass details on the side frame. All our vases are inlaid with a fiber-glass interior to support water. The dimensions of this piece are 25 x 7 x 23 cm All Kifu Paris pieces are handmade by artisans, ultimately making each piece unique. Custom color/sizing available on request. Wipe clean with soft dry cloth. Although inspired by her parents, her collection of Home Accessories and Furniture is a distinct identity of its own. Kifu uses handmade techniques of elaborate inlay patterns of shagreen, shells, semi-precious stones, materials she experienced as a child growing up in her parent’s studio, but interpreted in a younger quirkier way reflecting her youth. From her "jewelry inspired knobs" on decorative boxes, gold bar boxes and an extravagant inlay pattern mix of shagreen and shell inspired by galactic constellations, as seen on her enormous round mirror...
