The London-based interior designer and gallery owner Antony Redmile created some of the most unusual works of 1970s and 1980s London. Describing his interior style as ‘maximalist’ and taking inspiration from a myriad of sources, including exoticism, neo-classicism and travel. His original and eclectic style has led to pieces of high-impact that make a strong visual statement.

A rare and important Italian ship's wheel table, circa 1920s, comprising the large oak and brass helm salvaged from the Italian passenger steam ship Giuseppe Verdi, rising on cylindrical patinated metal base, ending on quadripartite supports, topped with a thick circular glass tabletop.
Provenance / History / Acquisition:
Salvaged from the 916 passenger steam ship Giuseppe Verdi (1915-1928). The S.S. Giuseppe Verdi made numerous voyages from Southern Italy to Ellis Island, NYC, between 1915 and 1928, bringing with it numerous immigrants to the United States. The ship was sold to Kinkai Yusen of Japan and renamed Yamato Maru in 1928, then in 1943 sunk by a torpedo during WW2.
