Angelino Heights Residence

Family Home by Charlap Hyman & Herrero in Los Angeles, CA

The bones of this California craftsman present an idiosyncratic backdrop for the aesthetic of a young adventurous couple. In response to the traditional structure, the design becomes unabashedly illustrative; each room is a playful interpretation of a geographical site. The dining room features mountains, the living room the ocean, the powder room a cave, and the primary bedroom a forest. The narrative qualities are both abstract and quite literal in their nature, punctuated by pieces of choice statement furniture. For example the primary bedroom is enveloped in an overgrowth of forest by way of a Charlap Hyman & Herrero designed wallpaper. A wooden bed with visible grain designed by Mario Ceroli is a further nod.
