Classic Decor for Coveted Tribeca Loft

Apartment by InSpace NY Design in New York, NY

Right from the entry the restored original details, the rich moldings and the generous proportions give the feel of a grand townhouse. An elegant window seat opposite a wall of hidden built in closets provides a discreet hiding storage space. A lovingly restored writing desk from Vienna sit on an antique silk rug makes for a sophisticated work station alongside custom built-in storage and bookcases that neatly display curated collection of artifacts and books. The work area follows into a graceful wide light filled open dining and living space. A formal dining table sits in between the oversized kitchen island and a bank of windows to anchor the space. A dramatic crystal pendent chandelier brings glitzy soft undertones lighting to the space. The formal living area is defined at the far corner of the vast space, with light pouring in from windows on three elevations. Antique furniture from the Vienna belonging to the resident’s grandmother has been lovely restored, referencing the not only the European heritage of the occupants of the apartment but as a nod to the early history of the neighborhood. Ana Luchangco utilized rich classic Bergamo and Rubelli fabrics to reupholster the seating and pillows. The corresponding antique wood frame arm chairs that border the space have also been upholstered in the same materials. A chic chaise Lounge finished in plush velvet brings some quiet drama to the classy sitting area. The Mid-century modern sideboard that can be found to the side of the room adds a different layer to the space, the deep honey color of the wood works to blend in with the space pulling together a divergence of design periods. The elegant proportions of all the furniture live harmoniously with the rich historic elements of the room.
