Moxie is an 8,500 square foot treasure trove of finely curated furnishings, lighting and accessories for the home. The stylish shop is the brainchild of four aesthete co-owners who partnered to provide a new standard in the dying age of brick and mortar. Fear not, with partner/designer Dennis Brackeen taking the lead on a massive two year long renovation, a visit to Moxie will cause even the most astute design aficionados to raise the bar when judging today's tastemakers. The breathtaking design and antiques store has just unveiled 15 newly designed rooms, each as moodily beautiful and exquisitely designed as the next. During the eight years that Moxie has been in business, it's never had a sign out front but who needs one when word of mouth spreads like wildfire. New visitors to the store often respond something like this: "Wow, I feel like I am in Paris or New York." Or, "Who would have ever dreamed that Houston would have a store like this?" Brackeen is a seriously talented designer, and it shows. At Moxie, fantasy and surrealism abound. "I've tried to create rooms that evoke a mood or tell a story, yet keep the entire store cohesive, similar to how we design and decorate for clients at home," he says. Abundant architectural detail, fine finishes and luxe wall coverings tell the stories that must swirl within the designer's head.
