Old World Revisited in Santa Monica

For this beautiful 1930s Spanish Revival home I wanted to make the new feel indetectable from the old. I created a new foyer with a sweeping, grand staircase at the junction of the 1930s and 1960s styled sections of the house. Passageways were adorned with classic period archways to form more gracious passageways and windows. For the tastes and energy of this family, it was also important to punctuate the home with deep, bright colors that were reinforced by the themes present in the furniture. Whether made or selected, the combination of sleeker Scandinavian profiles with more traditional and formal elements, feel as if they have long been together in these rooms. In more of an East Coast style, it is as if a fine, tasteful old house had been impeccably and lovingly added to by younger generations.
