Reinvented in Charleston
Family Home by B Berry Interiors in Charleston, SC
When renovating this classic 1820s home in Charleston’s South of Broad district, Betsy and her
team knew that they needed to honor its history while assuring that it fit the needs of the client.
Betsy also wanted to honor the home’s more feminine details—creating a tension between
feminine and masculine, traditional and contemporary. Favorite design elements include
hand-stenciled walls in the living room that both balance and complement the classic woodwork;
the original heart of pine floors; a Gracie wallpaper that adorns the dining room, balanced by the
original mantel stripped to show its patina and age; and a stenciled floor in the breakfast room
added to “age” the new flooring.
