Studio Shamshiri

Office by Studio Shamshiri in Los Angeles, CA

In 2017, Pamela & Ramin Shamshiri acquired the Thomson Building, a Spanish Colonial-style Hollywood landmark, to be their Los Angeles based studio. The building embodies true Hollywood history and charm, as it was erected by silent-film cowboy Fred Thomson and his wife, pioneering screenwriter Frances Marion in 1928. The Shamshiri team oversaw the restoration and interior renovation of the 6,000-square-foot space. The intention was to create an office environment that would feel like home while keeping the integrity of the building and paying hommage to it’s history. Inspiration was taken from far-flung sources: the American Academy in Rome, architect Paul Rudolph’s own office in Sarasota, Florida, and the deconstructed Mission style of various projects by early California modernist Irving Gill. The result was a redefined concept of a creative workspace; a space filled with vaulted spaces, curvilinear geometry, organic textures, and warm residential flourishes.
