Rigorous building regulations and a complex client program posed a challenge in this in a storied late 19th century apartment overlooking Central Park. The architectural details were all maintained and gently restored, while the decorative scheme incorporates Art Deco, 1950’s and contemporary furnishings. The color palette of the en suite entertaining rooms hearkens to the 1890’s. The completely new bathrooms and kitchen also embody inspirations from the period through characteristics such as the glass mosaic in the baths, complex patterned marble and mica in the kitchen, stained oak in both.
