Proud to offer this matching PAIR of early 20th Century Austria Imperial Amphora “Lily-of-the-Valley” maiden vases. These vases were designed by Eduard Stellmacher and manufactured by Riessner & Kessel Amphora of Turn-Teplitz, Austria, in a very classic Art Nouveau style. They each depict a dimensional nymph figure partially ascending a large Lily of the Valley plant. There are many lily of the valley plants surrounding the figures and a couple of scrolling stems that pass through their long flowing hair. Four main colors are used to decorate the molded vase with gilt highlights, including white, ivory, dark & light beige and gold. This late 19th century porcelain vase was designed by Eduard Stellmacher for Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel Amphora of Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia. The piece has a Classic Art Nouveau form and features a dimensional nymph partially encased in the leaves of a lily of the valley plant. The maiden's body is accented by two delicate arched tendrils finished in gilt which bear small white lily of the valley blossoms, also accented in gilt. The remainder of the piece is painted in shades of light green and ochre with gilt highlights. An example of this shape with similar painted decoration can be seen on page 37 of Richard L. Scott's 'Ceramics From The House Of Amphora 1890-1915.' As an antique item, the vase shows appropriate signs of age consisting of wear to the gilded decoration along with a shallow chip on one of the ridged leaves on the back of the piece. The foot is 4" in diameter and bears the red RStK mark reading "RStK TURN Teplitz...

A large and rare faience Art Nouveau Austrian Elvir Otto for Amphora Templitz (Reissner, Stellmacher & Kessel) pottery vase of the "Brittany Farmers" collection (1909-1910, inspired by the Brittany farm life, North West France) offers oversized and flared cylindrical form with high relief scenic landscape having farmer and crop fields, iridescent matte glazing with soft gilding, marked on base with Aphora, Austria and crown stamps as photographed, c1920 Measures - 16.5''H x 7.5''W x 7.5''D Additional Information: This large vase is made by Amphora, Turn-Teplitz Region of Bohemia Austria and was designed by Elvir Otto who worked for the Amphora works around 1909. This series is inspired by the Brittany (North West France) farm life. The decor is in high relief and colored in earthen tintes. Manufacturer Amphora Eduard Stellmacher and the brothers Hans and Carl RieÃYner lead together with Rudolf Kessler the company, which was grounded in 1892. They were specialized in unique styles and interesting glazes used to create what became known as Amphora pottery. They manufactured special luxury porcelain pieces, since 1894 also porcelain figurines and since 1895 fayences (vases and jardinières), and later special vases with animal motives and figurines. Animal figures, modern pottery with floral ornaments, china, stoneware and ivory-porcelain, decorated with enamel, soft colours and also gilded. Amphora AUSTRIA strongly competed with Royal Dux for the best ceramics of that time. In 1905 Stellmacher left the company and Kessel left in 1910 so the brothers continued the Amphora WERKE RIESSNER from that moment.Amphora represented at several exhibitions: 1893 in Chicago, the Highest Award, 1894 in San Francisco / Gold Medal, 1894 in Antwerpen âe" Diplome d`honneur, since 1897-9 8 winter exhibitions of the Vienna museum, 1900 in Paris âe" Medaille d`or, 1901 in St. Petersburg âe" Gold Medal, 1906 in Milan, and 1910 the world exhibition in Brüssel âe" Grand Prix.
