SCHEURICH had its origins in a joint venture launched in 1928 by Alois Scheurich and his cousin Fridolin Greulich in the small town of Schneeberg near the Czech border in Saxony—wholesaling glass, porcelain, and ceramics. The business was moved to the market community of Kleinheubach in the northeast corner of Bavaria in 1938, and ten years later the partners began producing household ceramics of their own, selling them under the name Scheurich & Greulich. In 1954 the partnership was dissolved, and Alois founded Scheurich GmbH & Co. KG to continue production on his own.
The celebrated designer Heinz Siery was recruited in 1955 as Scheurich’s lead form designer, but in addition to an extensive range of shapes, he was also key in helping the company develop a successful overarching production strategy, which was to produce a wide array of simple forms that could be produced cheaply and decorated in a great variety of glazes. This resulted in a range of pieces that were both varied and economically adaptable. The approach proved altogether successful and led to Scheurich’s hegemony beginning in the late 1960s. The company's strategy of keeping its prices low combined with an enormous range of attractive designs resulted in millions in sales and the designs were adapted twice a year to the changing tastes of the public.
Scheurich mainly made vases and flowerpots but also produced ashtrays, piggy banks, candle stands, beer mugs, buffet clocks, wall reliefs, and Christmas tree holders...

Anduze pots are an artisanal specialty of the Cevennes, a cultural region and mountain range in south-central France, located southeast of the Massif Central. It is a local pottery tradition that had enjoyed great success since the end of the 18th century. An Anduze vase needs three distinctive elements: shape, decorations and colours. These peculiarities are specific to it, and only pottery that contains all of its elements is qualified as Anduze. The other models produced in Anduze do not qualify as such if one of these features is missing.
The origins of the Anduze vases are the subject of numerous local legends according to which they were inspired by the Italian-style vases of the Medici or that they adorned the parks of the Palace of Versailles at the time of the Sun King. In reality, the Anduze vase was born in the second half of the 17th century century. It is the result of the different craft traditions of the potters of Provence and Languedoc. Its development is linked to that of the production of citrus fruits which must be kept indoors in winter so as not to freeze and therefore could not be planted directly in the ground. The fashion for the orange grove contributed to the development of the fashion for the horticultural ornamental vase.
The first Anduze vase model that can be perfectly identified and dated dates back to 1728 and is the work of the Gautier family of potters, present in the city of Anduze since the 16th century. Rare and magnificent Pair of Japanese Enameled Porcelain Vases Imperial Meiji Style. This unique pair of antique hand-crafted and hand-painted vases have outstanding high relief details.
Scalloped rim, decorated with radiating colors, featuring various blossoming plants and flowers. Very fine details & nicely raised. Hand-crafted with great depth & dimension. Beautiful colors that were very well blended. Made with meticulous eye to detail, of the highest quality and the finest craftsmanship.
These pieces are beautifully made antique vases. Hand Painted on a white background decorated with stunning enamel floral decor on both sides. Carefully hand-crafted, hand-painted of the highest quality and finest craftsmanship and something to be handed down through generations. According to experts that we consulted, it appears that this extraordinary pair of Art Nouveau Meiji Style Japanese Porcelain Vases were not made for export. Furthermore, the experts stated that the vases appear to be Japanese Early 20th Century Meiji or if Chinese possibly of a period earlier than the QING Dynasty. Note: these items have not been appraised, No documentation.
