What is a parure of Jewellery?

Parure means a combination of matching jewelry to be worn together. Meaning 'set' in French, a parure usually consists of brooches, necklaces, rings, and earrings. Late eighteenth-century parures included more ornaments such as shoulder brooches, shoe buckles, chatelaines and jeweled sword hilts.
