Who is called a Futurist painter?
1 Answer
Painters whose works embody the characteristics of the Futurism art movement are called Futurist painters. Some well-known Futurists include Umberto Boccioni, Giacomo Balla, Carlo Carrà, Gino Severini, Luigi Russolo, Joseph Stella and Aleksandra Ekster. Futurism originated in Italy during the early 20th century and focused on representing the dynamic changes taking place in the country due to the Industrial Revolution in artistic works. Painters working in this style studied science and philosophy as much as art. They often painted cityscapes, airplanes, cars and machinery and they tended to use vibrant colors and abstraction in their works. On 1stDibs, find an assortment of Futurist art.
