About the Item
Made in 2023 by Amanda Andersen, this geometric abstract painting on paper is one in a series of nine minimal artworks with a visual simplicity inspired by brutalism.
Brutalism; a style characterized by a stark aesthetic that emphasizes raw angular forms, sharp angles and raw materials. This body of work not only references industrial aesthetic of brutalist architecture, but also the minimal furniture designs inspired by the movement.
Sketched in coloured pencil and painted by hand using Gouache and Acrylic paints, the flat pigments of gouache contrast with the satin sheen of acrylic paints and the texture of raw paper. The tan-colored paper is 150g acid free, archival Canson paper. Colors in this piece include: tan, azure blue, maroon, burgundy.
The artwork is initialed on the back.
This is an artwork on paper, and therefore not ready to hang. A frame is negotiable on request (please use the contact form) otherwise the artwork will be shipped rolled in a tube.
