Sophia Dixon Dillo
Light Box No. 2605 - electric light emanating wall or table sculpture

2016

About the Item

Electric, remote controlled wall or table sculpture created with mixed media: LED's, Mi-Ttentes paper & plexiglass from abstract light installation and mixed media artist Sophia Dixon Dillo. The Light Box is a three-dimensional sculpture that can hang on a wall or sit on a table or shelf. Embedded in the box is a work on paper that has thousands of holes punctured with the tip of a sewing needle to create its unique, abstract design that shines through the frosted plexiglass front. The works includes a remote control device to dim or brighten the work, depending on the time of day and available light at a given time. The artist generally likes to keep the work at the center point (50% brightness). There are endless opportunities to see something new in Dixon Dillo’s work, which always interacts with, and strongly considers, the nature of light. Ready to plug into a wall and enjoy. LED lights expected to last 17 years of running time. At which point the bulbs can be replaced. Dillo has exhibited, and is collected, throughout the U.S., and internationally. She has participated in exhibits such as the Fort Collins Museum of Contemporary Art, the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Calvin Klein Collection on Madison Avenue in New York. Her recent solo exhibit, Emergence, was chosen as a “Pick of the Week” by ArtWeek.LA. She has recently been recognized as a notable abstract artist with an invitation to participate in Colorado Women in Abstraction at the Center for Visual Arts in Denver. Artwork is 12 1/2 x 12 1/2 x 3 inches — created from mixed media: LED' lights,, Mi-Ttentes paper & plexiglass. Contemporary, clean, minimal, and a pleasure to look at. — Stunning on its own or hanging in pairs. Dixon Dillo's Light Box series was created in 2016. Condition is excellent. EC 15 - textural abstract circle shape nature inspired white sculpted paper
Located in New York, NY
Anne-Charlotte Saliba's artistic universe is largely inspired by nature, its abyssal dimension as well as its vegetal or mineral forms. Her sculpted artworks are a confrontation of smooth and grainy texture on the same linear paper. A cloud of small perforations, incisions, and punches which play on the elasticity of the paper, to create a topographic relief. A controlled wandering of dotted lines, scales and bumps are drawn following the movement of her hand on the paper. The flow is both free and thoughtfully planned, allowing unexpected movements and completely abandoning set patterns at times. Saliba sees herself more like an artisan than an artist in the sense that she is working with texture and touch to create unique intricate sculpted artworks. Playing with light and shadow, each in her own way ennobles a seemingly banal material with a genuine concern for ethics. Like modern-day memento mori, Saliba’s works transport us into dreamlike worlds in which the evanescence of paper echoes the transience of life, subtly reminding us to enjoy the present moment. Anne-Charlotte Saliba works and lives near Lyon, France. Her work has reviewed in numerous publications and has won the prestigious price for Jeune Creation de Métiers d’Art in 2020. She is now represented by the Muriel Guépin Gallery...
