About the Item
Blanche Grambs, whose career started with the WPA, was an extremely skilled draftsperson.
Her birds are masterful. This charming piece places the yooun bird at the lower part of the foliage, almost hidden in a protective environment. It takes a moment to find him or her. And the downy feathers act as camouflage as they would in nature -- our eyes go to the clear, bright greens of the ferns -- in huge variety.
This drawing is signed in ink. The dimensions are for the size of the sheet. The paper has a linen-like finish on the front -- it's smooth on the reverse.
