This large drawing on light brown paper shows a winged angel in a dynamic pose, turning gently to one side.
Likely conceived as a preparatory study for an Annunciation scene, the figure presents the grace and physical balance typical of Enrico Reffo’s sacred imagery. The artist’s hand is revealed in the fluidity of the line and the confident modelling of volumes, building the form with sure strokes and subtle shading.
The drawing is signed in the lower right corner, making it a rare example of an autograph work on paper by Reffo. The large format, compositional clarity, and physical presence of the angel all suggest this was a final study used in the artist’s studio before execution on canvas or fresco. Slight wear and defects along the margins confirm its practical use in the painter’s workshop.
