About the Item
POOR ME is a small watercolor on Arches paper by Fleur Thesmar. The artwork measures 7x5". Matted and framed in gold, it measures 13x11". Though completed over a year ago, it's a timely contemplation on safety and security, the pros and cons of being separated and isolated from the world. The artist's preoccupation with light, surfaces and pattern is fully present here, with a bare vulnerable hand in a sheath of plastic bubble wrap shows.
From Fleur Thesmar – "Is safety always desirable?"
Having moved her family from France to America, artist Fleur Thesmar closely observed the changes in her world – from the seemingly obvious such as surrounding landscapes, the light of day and weather, the flowers, trees and shorelines – to the smaller less obvious shifts, such as how one behaves in a new world, in a new home, how one cherishes certain belongings and certain memories.
Her artistic practice is borne out of that close observation and shift in perspective, and has led to a number of successful gallery shows in the U.S. and internationally. Fleur Thesmar has shown at Beacon Gallery in Boston MA, 440 Gallery, Brooklyn NY, Old West Museum, Cheyenne WY, Belmont Art Gallery, Belmont MA, and Salon Ile-de-France 2020, Bourg-La-Reine, France. Her work is on permanent display at the Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston, MA.
Fleur Thesmar graduated from Ecole Polytechnique, Palaiseau, France. She received her MSc Telecommunications Telecom in Paris, France, and MSc Signal Processing & Communications, Imperial College, London, England. Fleur Thesmar Currently lives in Boston, MA, where she received teachings from the MFA Boston studio.

- "THUNDER ROLL", watercolor, glass, kitchen, travel, memory, identity, home, loveBy Fleur ThesmarLocated in Toronto, OntarioTHUNDER ROLL is a watercolor on Arches paper by Fleur Thesmar. The artwork measures 22x30". It is professionally framed in white, with UV protection and anti-glare glass. Framed it measures 26x34". A recurring subject for the artist, a world traveller, is memory and landscape, possessions and identity. In "Thunder Roll" we see cherished wine glasses in a carton being packed or unpacked, either way in a state of transition. The play of light on the glass and on the wrapping paper suggests sunny days and warm moments. And the presence of the leaves adds a natural, wholesome energy to this home. From Fleur Thesmar – "The painting "Thunder Roll" is part of a body of work called “Removal” which features semi-realistic still lives of clothes, bubble wrap and sometimes cardboard and glasses. It questions themes such as possession and identity, removal and travel, memories and storage. It also resonates with landscapes and here, with the summer fields in France before the storm. I store memories of large tables, wine glasses and lace napkins...Category

- "PLENTY", watercolor, abstract, ice cream, landscape, patterns, textiles, fruitBy Fleur ThesmarLocated in Toronto, OntarioPLENTY is a new watercolor on Fabriano paper by Fleur Thesmar. The artwork measures 22x30". Note the gentle complexity of the composition, the suggestion of dollops of ice cream and fruit, or piles of colorful clothes, or a fanciful landscape. The scale grows large and small, far away and right in your lap! From Fleur Thesmar – "My memory invents places and shapes, finding new games of mirrors thanks to mathematical models and theories. Shapes resembling bowls of fruit, balloons, landscapes and so on, actually fulfill a dream of mine to free the imagination and let the viewer invent as well." Having moved her family from France to America, artist Fleur Thesmar closely observed the changes in her world – from the seemingly obvious such as surrounding landscapes, the light of day and weather, the flowers, trees and shorelines – to the smaller less obvious shifts, such as how one behaves in a new world, in a new home, how one cherishes certain belongings and certain memories.
