Caricature by George Wachsteter (1911-2004) of Dennis Morgan as private eye Dennis Chase in NBC-TV`s `21 Beacon Street`. Series only ran from July 2 to Sept 24, 1959 over NBC-TV, and was seen in repeats over ABC-TV from Dec 27, 1959 to March 20, 1960. Artwork appears to be a preliminary or alternative version of the final illustration that graced the cover of the Sunday, Aug 9, 1959 issue of The New York Journal American TView Section to promote the NBC series. On 15" x 20" illustration board, probably for the New York Herald Tribune. With graphite sketch on onionskin overlay. 10" x 8" image. Toned.

Hunter Stabler was born in Jefferson City, Missouri and was raised in upstate South Carolina. He received a BFA in painting from The Maryland Institute, College of Art and an MFA in painting from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently pursuing an MFA in Digital Art at Louisiana State University. His work has been widely exhibited across the United States and internationally including exhibitions at the Morbid Anatomy Museum in Brooklyn, NY, The Shelburne Art Museum in Shelburne, VT, the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, NJ, and the Islip Art Museum in East Islip, NY.
