Black chalk on paper 224gr/m2 mounted on chassis and forex panel. 165 x 276 cm (diptych composed of two panels, 165 cm x 138 cm each).
From the start, black chalk has always characterized Guy Oberson's work. It is a drawing tool, similar to charcoal, but the blacks are even more mat and deep, and it requires impeccable control as it is irreversible. The artist shades the black chalk with a multitude of vertical streaks which alter the perception of the subject. The subject is thus taken apart, loosing body, but gains in expressive intensity.
