Small but mighty original pastel on paper. Dimensions: 7" x 4.5". The frame measures 19" x 16.5".
Signed and titled in the lower right corner.
A superb original pastel by this very talented California artist. The light over the ring illuminates the back of the heads of the spectators. One fighter gives a face-on "Saludo" to the other.
Mahlon Blaine was born in California in 1894. He became part of a coming century of great popularity and diverse talent in the field of illustration that included Dean Cornwell, Robert Lawson, Andrew Loomis, George Petty, Milt Gross and Gustaf Tenggren.
