About the Item
"Allow" by Sarah Alexander is a 24 x 36 x 1.5 inch landscape painting in watercolor on panel in rich, warm jewel tones contrasting with a warm blue background. The artist conveys movement, mood, and the subconscious with her sinuous marsh grasses. The yielding grasses are entwined as the feather-like seed heads interact with one another. The title "Allow" comes from a philosophy of self-acceptance and non-reaction, a state of mind achieved through meditation. The Aquabord surface is a clay board surface made specifically for watercolor. It has been sealed and varnished with an archival UV protective polymer acrylic. The Aquabord is mounted on a 1.5-inch gallery style cradle which is painted and does not require framing.
Sarah Alexander is a contemporary mixed media artist with an emphasis on watercolor using unconventional surfaces and techniques. Her work is in private collections and has been shown extensively throughout New England, and abroad. Her work has been published by North Light Books. Alexander is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
