About the Item

The Angel without Shoes is an original modern artwork realized in the half of the 19th Century by the French artist Auguste Alexandre Dumont (Paris, 1801 - Paris, 1884). Original pen drawing on paper. Passepartout is included (total dimensions cm 39 x 30). Excellent conditions. The Angel without Shoes is an excellent artwork realized in France in the middle of the 19th Century and depicts the figure of an angel with two shoes in the hands. The stroke is refined and very soft and the line defines the whole composition in a very elegant way. The work has been realized by the artist Augustin-Alexandre Dumont also known as Auguste or Augustin Dumont, (Paris, 1801 - Paris, 1884), a French sculptor. He was the son of the sculptor Jacques-Edme Dumont and brother of the composer Louise Farrenc (nee Dumont). He was admitted to the Institut de France in 1838 and taught at the École des beaux-arts from 1853 to his death. He was master of the sculptor Jean-Marie Bonnassieux.
