About the Item
John Mackie (born 1953)
Born in Glasgow, he works in oils, watercolors, and pastels. After studying at the Glasgow School of Art, he won the W. H. Shanks Prize for Drawing in 1976 and a Scottish Arts Council scholarship to work in the United States. He has since exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Glasgow Institute. He currently travels extensively in France, Italy, and Spain. You will find in his art many sparkling gems, sparkles of great incandescence.
Whether in these compositions, street scenes, or those by the water, the artist brought his works to life with translucent blues. In city scenes, such as Paris, we will remember an artist who, like John Mackie, brought as much light to his compositions: the painter Edouard Cortes (1882-1969).
