Signed: by Richard Geiger (1870 – 1945), Austrian - Hungarian painter. Also pencils inscriptions on reverse with date 33 (1933). By the 1920s, he worked illustrating books, bookplates and posters. His paintings included portraits, nudes, genre paintings, and mythological scenes, but he was known for his illustrations, especially his carnival motifs. Spectacular masterwork.
Size app.: 18 x 23.3 cm (roughly 7.1 x 9,2 in), framed 31.7 x 36.4 cm (roughly 12.5 x 14.3 in). Very Good condition, minimal age wear. In person actual painting may appear darker or brighter than in our pictures, strictly depending on sufficient light in your environment. ABOUT THE ARTIST
Robert Philipp (1895–1981) was a celebrated American Post-Impressionist painter known for his nudes, still lifes, and portraits. Noted art critic Henry McBride named Philipp one of America's top six painters of his generation. Philipp was an instructor of painting at the Art Students League, New York, for 33 years. Philipp was Secretary of the National Academy of Design, a National Academician, and a Benjamin Franklin Fellow at the Royal Society of Arts in London. His composition and painting style has been compared to the art of Edgar Degas and Pierre Auguste Renoir.
In 1940, Philipp was invited to Los Angeles by Hollywood producer Louis B. Mayer to paint portraits of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer movie stars. The same year, Walter Wanger, producer of ‘The Long Voyage Home’, directed by John Ford and based on plays by Eugene O'Neill, contracted with Reeves Lewenthal, head of the Associated American Artists gallery in Manhattan, to bring nine well-known artists to the set and paint scenes from the movie and portraits of the actors in character. The work of Andy Mister explores the boundary between mechanical and manual reproduction. Working with images appropriated from vintage photographs and deftly mimicking the Xerox aesthetic of punk zines and album covers, removing their specific historical context. Mister’s drawings question how meaning is created or lost through the act of “copying.” Mister says of the arrangement of his images, “It's something like my bedroom as a teenager, filled with images clipped from magazines: bands or writers that I admired interspersed with random images I found aesthetically interesting. I am interested in the relationship between images and connections that the viewer creates when encountering them, connections that I cannot control.”

This is the artist's portrait of a financial official in a Cantonese temple in Guangzhou, China in the latter half of the 19th century. His garment is typical of that of a senior civil servant of the Chinese government. Clothes were designed to indicate rank and status, becoming so distinct that the wearer’s position could be ascertained at a glance. During his second career as an artist, Pritchett traveled widely in the Pacific region in the 1880s. This artwork has been professionally restored and cleaned to preserve it for decades to come and therefore in good overall condition. It has also been newly framed and glazed. Krzysztof Pastuszka is an interdisciplinary artist who spans sculpture, drawing, engineering, and computer design.
Much of his work focuses on the complexity and tension in transition/transitioning, giving voice to his experience growing up as a trans kid in the late 90s -2000s. His process consists of idea generation and the testing and creation of prototypes to generate a multitude of parts.
